many horror fans do not consider the 2019 Child’s Play remake a complete “disgrace,” it remains one of the most divisive entries in the horror community.
Why are horror fans so chill?
The genre acts as a safe, shared release for stress, and facing fictional scares builds emotional resilience and social bonding.
That collection of benefits only explains a reason for why anyone would become a horror fan.
Everybody wants to be safe.
If nobody else can openly relate to appreciation for this, at least I can.
Safety’s a particular area of life that I’ve been striving for improvement in.
It’s not that I’m struggling with it, but it’s a concept that’s going to always remain relevant how I see it.
We like seeing this area of life tested, and most of the time it happens in horror. That can be a stressful thing to experience.
But when it’s put into the form of a film, it’s a healthy stress reliever.
Nobody gets hurt for real, but there’s real emotions that get associated with what’s put into these movies.
That’s something that I believe makes people in the horror movie community so connected.
Speaking to emotional resilience, it builds that with people willing to give horror movies a shot.
You learn how to get over this roller coaster of emotions by the end of the movie.
There’s a reason that we’re able to bond so well socially with peers:
We feel so in tune with what everyone else is feeling.
Final Thoughts
Child’s Play 2019 is without a hit or miss entry that I’ll believe will always have a place in the horror genre because of how modern they decided to make a horror icon that debuted in the late 80s.
It’s a fair attempt at keeping something that was a classic alive with new generations. It was a hit with Gen X and Millenials.
So this was absolutely appropriate to at least try and capture. We’re talking about an AI Chucky! At the very least it’s progressive.
I like the originality and even the cast helped make it a fun time. It’s definitely worth the time to watch.
